Ancient Russia protective ring

This festive ring is richly adorned with a floral design in the Novgorod style. A border of pearl beads frames the lush coils of supple stems, and in the centre of the ring a blossoming flower is embellished with a large precious stone. The words of the prayer ‘Save and Protect’, spoken to Christ, are engraved on the inside of the ring.
