Image of Our Lady of Kazan

This oval icon with a semi-circular petal motif border shows the image of Our Lady of Kazan, one of the most venerated icons in Russia. The head of the Blessed Virgin is inclined to the right and almost indiscernibly makes contact with head of the Infant Christ, who is shown standing upright, extending his right arm to the world as an act of blessing. On the reverse of the piece are the words of the Hail Mary with a miniature blossoming cross rising above.
