The icon depicts the image of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary: a bright day on the verge of the Old and New Testaments, the birth of the Virgin Mary, who is presented by Divine Providence to serve the mystery of the incarnation of God as the Word and to be the Mother of the Saviour of the world. The reverse side of the Unfading Flower icon depicts the Virgin Mary holding her Divine Son in her right hand and a white lily flower, which symbolically signifies the unfading colour of virginity and chastity, in her left hand.
