Ring with Novgorod Motif

The apex of this ring is in the shape of a Russian kokoshnik (traditional woman's head dress), at the crown of which are the words of the prayer 'Save and Protect’. The embossed ornament which decorates the rim is composed of ancient Novgorod motifs with a Greek cross at the centre.
