Symbol of Power over the World Cross

An elegant cross with slightly elongated arms has been executed in the image of a cross sitting atop a church dome, which also resembles a globe. A glowing disc at the centre of the cross symbolically personifies the Four Evangelists. It is based on the Russian cross-making traditions of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which made wide use of the symbolism of the Heavenly City in the form of geometric images. The arms of the cross terminate in trefoil shapes, echoing the general idea of a piece which personifies the symbol of power over the world.
